Biography

Adriana Lorena Mariaca Villavicencio, Biologist and Scientific Illustrator with a Master's Degree in Conservation and Use of Biodiversity from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. She has experience working with farmers and indigenous communities, from the highlands and Amazon, using a multidisciplinary socio-ecological approach, analyzing their perceptions and mental models to understand their interactions with the wildlife with which they coexist. She also developed educational experiences for children, young people and adults on topics related to biology, conservation and biodiversity use, as well as conducted interviews, workshops and field research to evaluate biodiversity, soil microbiology and adaptation to climate change. Educational training includes complementary education in sustainable development, scientific research, fine arts and scientific illustration, applying technical skills including GIS, statistical analysis, drone piloting and photogrammetry.
