Agronomist, University of Chile (2001). Doctor of Science, mention in Plant Genetic Engineering, University of Talca, Chile (2008). He is Associate Professor and the head of the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Physiology (LFMV) at the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of Talca. His research includes the study of fruit ripening, its regulation by transcription factors and plant hormones, and the effects of elicitors on postharvest physiology and against pathogens. Currently, his interest is focused on elucidating the role of jasmonate signaling in fruit ripening and anthocyanin biosynthesis.
