Functional genomics

Biography

Agricultural engineer graduated in the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires, conducted Master's and PhD in Reserve Proteins related to Wheat.

He was one of the pioneers in the country in the use of molecular markers and genetic maps applied to plant improvement, both in the public and private sphere. Since 1999 he is responsible for the Agrobiotechnology Laboratory of the Research Area in Agronomy of INTA de Balcarce, specializing in functional genomics in Solanum sp. He has been the researcher responsible for Argentina in the Pope genome sequencing consortium.

The current projects of your research team are oriented to the study of genes responsible for the industrial and nutritional quality of potatoes, the synthesis of secondary metabolites and the adaptation and use of new gene editing technologies in plants. Since 2014 coordinates the National Biotechnology Program of the INTA of Argentina.
