Master of Science specialized in genetic improvement from the Colegio de Postgraduados, Montecillos, México. He has worked as a researcher in the potato program at the National Institute of Agricultural Research INIAP, for 15 years. He led the project, "Strengthening Potato Seed Research and Production", Agreement INIAP SDC . He is the author of of 46 publications, including: scientific articles, books, technical bulletins, and manuals. He has released 10 cultivars with resistance to biotic factors and quality-related traits such as chips and potato sticks for agribusiness. To expand his professional experience, he worked as a Purchasing and Agro manager for the private company PEPSICO (development of potato and banana seed). Starting in 2002, he assumed the activity of seed producer of varieties for the industry. In 2010, he began his research and teaching activities at the universidad Central de Ecuador, teaching in the Genetics and Plant breeding courses full time. He is currently the director of the project: Collection, selection, conservation and use of castor bean germplasm from the Ecuadorian highlands with potential for biofuel and restoration of degraded agroecosystems; and associate researcher of the project: Agroecological management of crop insects: towards a sustainable collective goal for farmers (Amigo).
