Agricultural Engineer, graduated from the Army Polytechnic School - ESPE - IASA. He completed his Master's Degree in Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources at “Wageningen University” and obtained his PhD in the Department of Horticulture and Extensive Cropping at “The Ohio State University, specializing in Genetics and Plant Breeding. During his professional career he has developed two varieties of Starch corn for the Ecuadorian highlands and a hybrid of corn for the Litoral Region of the Country and has directed several projects of genetic resistance to pests and nutritional quality of corn. He was Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding at IASA II (Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas Headquarters) and Director of Research at the National Institute for Agricultural Research - INIAP. He is currently Principal Investigator of the Maize Program at INIAP's Santa Catalina Experimental Station.
