As part of the scientific dissemination activities of the FONTAGRO project “Harnessing Bioproducts to Strengthen Climate Resilience”, project researchers participated in the 2025 International Congress on Invertebrate Pathology and Microbial Control & 57th Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology, held from August 3–8, 2025, in Puerto Varas, Chile.
During the event, two scientific posters were presented: “Comparative Genomic Analysis of Entomopathogenic and Mycoparasitic Fungi for the Development of Enhanced Biopesticides” and “Biological Control of Spodoptera frugiperda in Maize Using Native Entomopathogenic Fungi: Toward Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture.”
The studies highlighted the potential of entomopathogenic and mycoparasitic fungi for the development of more efficient and sustainable biopesticides, as well as innovative alternatives for managing Spodoptera frugiperda, one of the most important insect pests affecting maize production across Latin America.
Participation in this international congress provided an opportunity to share project advances with researchers, specialists, and institutional representatives from different countries, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening international scientific collaboration in the fields of biological control and sustainable agriculture.
Presenting these results at a globally recognized scientific event contributes to increasing the visibility of the project and underscores the role of bioproducts as innovative tools for enhancing climate resilience, improving agricultural sustainability, and reducing dependence on conventional inputs in food production systems.
